In this match, Edwards bowled a total of 7 very productive overs and eliminated 6 wickets for just 22 runs. This 6/22 remained at the top of this record category for twelve years until it was surpassed by Rabada. He went on to play 50 ODI matches in his career and took a total of 60 wickets.
3. Jan Frylinck
Namibian bowling allrounder, Jan Frylinck is a right-arm fast-medium bowler who is in the third spot for taking one of the most wickets in ODI debut. His debut ODI game was against Oman on April 27th 2019, at the Wanderers Cricket Ground.
In this game, he bowled a total of 8 deliveries and dropped an impressive total of 5 wickets for 13 runs. His 5/13 bowling statistics in that game still remain his career’s BBM. To this day, he played a total of 15 ODI matches and took away 21 wickets with a 4.63 economy rate.
4. Anthony Dodemaide
The fourth player to take one of the most wickets in ODI debut is Anthony Dodemaide of Australia. Anthony was a right-arm fast-medium bowler who represented his nation in 10 Test and 24 ODI games.
His ODI debut was against Sri Lanka played on January 2nd, 1988 at the W.A.C.A Ground. In this match as a debutant, Tony claimed 5 wickets for 21 runs in a total of 7.2 overs that he bowled. 5. SHU Karnain
Shaul Hameed Uvais Karnain was a right-arm medium bowler who had represented Sri Lankan Men’s Cricket team in 19 ODI matches. His debut match was played against New Zealand on March 31st 1984 at the Tyronne Fernando Stadium.
In this match, Karnain pulled off 5 wickets for 26 runs in the total 8 overs that he bowled. Karnain’s 5/26 remains one of the best records in the history of ODI debut matches of all time.
