The number of cards dealt to each player depends on the variation of the rummy card game.

Canasta rummy- 11 cards
London rummy= 13 cards
In basic rummy, if there are two players then each player gets ten cards. If there are three or four players then seven cards are dealt to each one. For five or six player games, each person gets six cards.
Apart from these, there are 11-card, 21- card, 10 card and 3 card rummy. Before starting any rummy card game, be sure to visit our blog and check out the rules and rummy number of cards.

- Aces are also considered as high cards and have 15 points each.
- 2-10= generally equal to face value
Like rummy number of cards, the rummy highest card depends on the time of the rummy variation you are playing. For example, in Gin rummy Ace is a low card. Some versions of the rummy card game allow you to consider Ace both as a high and a low card.
In this section, we will explain the different rummy cards names and the order of the cards.
The cards are generally ranked from highest to lowest as below:
In many variations of Rummy, the ace may be valued as a high card or a low card or both.
Joker and Wild Cards
In rummy, there is a Printed Joker and a Wild Card. Wildcards are any random card which is selected at the beginning of the game. For example- 8♦
Both are used to represent any other card.
4♣ 5♣ Joker
4♣ 5♣ 8♦ (8♦ is a wildcard used to represent 6♣)
6♦ 7♦ 8♦ (although 8♦ is a wildcard, here it used as itself)
Remember the order from 2-King remains the same in most rummy card games. However, the value of ace may vary. For example, in Indian rummy, ace is a high card. In continental rummy ace is both a high card and a low card.
In some 500 rummy games, “going around the corner" is allowed. This means, you can make 1 sequence where Ace is both high and low (e.g. Q♠ K♠ A♠ 2♠).
Be sure to check out the rules to know the value of ace in the rummy variation you are playing.
