  • Texas Hold’em
  • Omaha Hi
  • Omaha Hi-Lo
  • 5-card Draw
  • 5-card Omaha
  • 7-card Stud
  • 2-7 Triple Draw
  • Chinese Poker
  • Short Deck
  • Badugi
  • Horse Poker
  • Razz
  • Pineapple

Here, we have given brief explanations of some of the poker variants.

Texas Hold’em

Texas Hold’em is one of the most famous types of poker out of all poker games. Many of the online poker rooms would showcase a wide range of tables and games featuring this type of poker game. It is one of the easiest types of poker variants to learn and is always preferred by amateurs and beginners if they want to have a good time playing poker. Anyone can pick up the art of playing this variant by either taking online workshops or studying books to get them started with Texas Hold’em.

It involves a total of 7 cards in which there are 5 community cards that can be shared among other players to make the best possible hand in the game. The winning hand should consist of 5 cards, and it follows the general ranking system.

Omaha Hi

Some might think different poker games have completely different gameplays but they might be surprised to know that the statement doesn’t always hold true. Omaha Hi is very similar to Hold’em in the fact that they have similar rules regarding betting and blinds, but take a different stand when it comes to the number of hole cards involved in the game. There are different poker games within this poker card game namely Omaha, 5-Card Omaha and Courchevel.

This is the second most famous type of poker after Texas Hold’em. The “Hi” in the name of the game signifies that the highest hand in the poker card game takes home the pot after the showdown. All poker games are played differently and in this, there exists a limit on the pot, hence it is referred to as Pot-Limit Omaha. If one knows how to play Hold’em, it is extremely easy for them to learn Omaha as well, because they both contain almost the same features.

Omaha Hi-Lo

Omaha Hi-Lo comes under the poker card game of Omaha. This game is usually played at a nine or six handed table as compared to Omaha. The gameplay of this type of poker game is quite similar to that of Omaha with respect to betting and blinds. Since this is a bit of a different poker game as compared to plain old Omaha, this variant follows a rule that allows the dealer to divide the pot equally at the end of the showdown and distribute it among the highest and lowest 5-card hands. This poker card game is available only in select online poker rooms and is not as famous as the earlier variants.

5-Card Draw

In this different type of poker game, the players are required to make the highest 5-card hand. This variant is quite different and interesting when compared to all poker games. This is because the players have the option to hide their cards and do not have to share it among the other players on the table. However, this later becomes difficult to play, given you cannot judge other players’ cards and work on attacking their weak spots. Since there are only three rounds in this poker game as opposed to all poker games, it is quite easy for beginners to learn this among other poker card games.

5-Card Omaha

This type of poker is played by most of the home players since they are very skilled with the rules of this poker variant. Before Texas Hold’em took the spotlight, Stud games used to be the most played variant out of all poker games in this domain. This card is a different type of poker where players don’t usually receive a set of hole cards and community cards. Each player on the table receives their own individual set of hands that are concealed from other players. After the rise of Hold’em, this type of poker is hardly played in any poker rooms online and most of the players seem to prefer Hold’em over this.

Horse Poker

Horse is a culmination of 5 other types of poker variants namely – Texas Hold’em, Omaha Hi- Lo, Razz (Stud Lo), Stud (Stud Hi), and Eight-or-Better (Stud Hi-Lo). This type of poker game is generally played in a high stake and live environment game, and is played in most of the famous poker games like the World Series. This game is not the best for single game specialists to play as it offers everyone an even and fair playing field which might not have been what they expected.
