Setting of the game

The stud poker game consists of a 52 standard card deck and can usually be played between 2 to 8 players. The players are given chips to place their bets. 1. Ante Amount –

2. Third Street –

After the payment of the nominal amount, the poker seven-card stud begins, and the cards are dealt. Before the first betting round, three cards, known as “third street”, are dealt individually to each player. Of these, 2 cards are dealt face down (hole cards), and 1 is dealt face up(door card).

The player having the lowest ranked faceup card is known as the “bring-in”, who makes the first bet.

3. Fourth Street –

After the first betting round of stud poker is completed, every active player receives another faceup card known as the “fourth street”, and the player having the highest faceup cards begins the bet. This player has the following options –

· To bet the size of the lower betting structure

· To check, in which case, the player will stay in hand without betting

4. Fifth Street –

After the second round of the poker seven-card stud, the players left are dealt another faceup card called the “fifth street” when the betting is completed. The player with the highest faceup card value begins, and the third betting round ensues.

5. Sixth Street –

After the third betting round, the active players left are dealt another faceup card, the “sixth street”. The first player to bet has the highest value of faceup cards, starting the betting of the fourth round.

6. The River

After the fourth betting round, we reach the last round, where a last card is dealt to the remaining active players, known as the “seventh street” or “the river” facedown. Again, the player with the highest value of faceup cards begins first.

The last betting round ensues. By this round, the active players have a seven-card hand.

After the last betting round of stud poker, the one player left who did not fold throughout the game is the winner and takes the pot.

7. The Showdown

Here, in the seven-card stud, the players reveal all their seven cards, and the player with the highest 5-card poker hand takes the pot.

When the cards are ranked equally, the pot is equally divided between the players having the best hand.
