I'm late, I'm late for a very important date
...so said the white rabbit. The white rabbit in this story is ME and the date I'm late for is this BLOG!
Anyway, back now and that's all that matters - and the inspiration? I was invited as a guest speaker to the Melbourne PC User group this evening to talk on Blogging. In the last few days, I've been putting together my presentation and I have a renewed fire in my fingertips. So - HELLO to all of you Melb PC user groupies - you'd better leave a comment so I know you were here!

In the last few days, I've been putting together my presentation and I have a renewed fire in my fingertips. So - HELLO to all of you Melb PC user groupies - you'd better leave a comment so I know you were here!
Things I've been doing lately:
- Visited Microsoft for a look at the upcoming new Windows Vista. Ohhh.. LOVE IT. The look and feel are just lovely.. it focusses in depth on photos and other media that we need, as a human, to store and handles them beautifully. More to come.
- Spoke at the ConnectingUp06 conference in Adelaide. It was so lovely to have an evening at the Hyatt and speak to such an appreciative group. In fact, I was asked that evening if I'd do my talk in the U.K, so I'm waiting for more info on that!
- Spoke in Beechworth, Vic at the Public Accountants Convention and met the uniquely entertaining and inspirational Tom O Toole - the Baker from Beechworth. He and his absolutely wonderful wife Christine took me to dinner and showed me around their gorgeous town. I'm still enjoying Christine's green tomato pickle! In fact, now I'm officially maintaining their website!
- Spoke at the CPA Country Congress in Coffs Harbour. Home of the Big Banana and I don't mean Russell Crowe although apparently he lives near there. It was lovely to be there and I was scoping out a family holiday the whole time! There's a porpoise pool!
I once had my very own talkback radio show - 3hrs a day for 18mths. One of my segments was called 'Big Things' and we interviewed owners of the various Big Things all around Australia each week - it was actually quite fascinating! 6mths later I saw Rove doing the same thing on his show so I take ALL of the credit for it. - Totally avoiding Big Brother. Not because I don't want to sneak a peek at it, but because I have a 12yr old in the house and I want to shelter her from the reality that is people-like-that for as long as I possibly can.
- Attended a large-ish family afternoon tea last weekend and it was my job to create the cake/slice. As usual, I thought I'd try a bit of over-achieving and put my mind to French Madeleine shell cakes. Needless to say, I will never use a European recipe again. These buttery, eggy little rocks were gross! If there's a fail-safe recipe out there for Aussies, let me have it.
- Appearing on '9am with david and kim' weekly. Usually Wednesdays at 10.30am but this week it's Thursday at 10am!
- Start a regular podcast. For the uninitiated, this means I'll provide regular audio computer tips which you can subscribe to. Whenever there's a new one, your computer will grab it automatically and you can play it through your own computer's speakers using Windows Media Player or iTunes. You can even send it to your portable music player (mp3 player) to listen to on the bus, at the gym, walking!
