Mega: Hosting all the way

Quick, while Yvonne's not looking, I'm blogging! I became the official ambassador of Australia's nicest hosting company today - Hostway. The guys there are all extremely clever, and wonderful to deal with. I'm planning on getting my website and search engine optimisation tricks to as many people as possible - so keep an eye on the site!

I should be getting my beauty sleep because I'm on tele tomorrow (Thurs) with David and Kim talking about 'How to connect to the Internet'... perhaps this blog entry is one of the first things you'll see if you use my advice and jump online after the segment. 10:30am, Channel 10,

My brand new, all revised, bumper, improved edition of Conquer Your Computer comes out in just two weeks. I've got a copy here and I'm very proud - by popular demand it is now spiral bound, which means it holds itself open next to your keyboard - hooray!

Eek! Here she comes! A quick tip before I Alt + F4 (exit) out of here ... and that was it!

Confessions of a teenager's mum

Confessions of a teenager’s mum:

I don’t let her watch the O.C. (apparently I’m the only parent in the entire high school community, so I’m a devil) Bedtime JUST IS before 9:30. I need to see fruit and vegetables every day going in. I don’t think chocolate is a breakfast food.

I actually phoned the office of Dolly magazine yesterday to ask them if they believe their magazine is suitable for nearly-13 year olds. (oh, did I mention she’s NOT EVEN 13 yet!) They said that although the mag is targeted at 14-18 year olds, she knows 12yr olds and 20yr olds who enjoy it. She assured me that it is totally focussed on positive body image and helping teens through their difficult years… hmmmm. So I’ve decided to get it, read it, cut out the inappropriate articles and pass it to her.

I don’t want her to miss out on all of those girly things but it’s difficult finding a balance between pointing her in the wrong direction and letting her find out this stuff!

Life is returning to normal

School holidays are over, kindergarten has started and work has begun to flow back into my life. It's amazing how satisifed I am by completing a professional task, like writing a magazine article, editing a client's website, putting together a brochure for a new product.

How much have you learnt about creche and kinder procedures from your kids new behaviour? Charlotte (4) was holding the fruit salad tray over the weekend, saying 'Im the teacher and I will give you the fruit'. I asked for some pear and she quickly said 'You'll get what you're given!' Hmmmm... a sneak peek into the world of creche.

This morning she didn't want to go to her new kinder (which she calls 'my new kingdom') and when I finally got to the bottom of things it appears she was told 'we do not run inside! running is for outside!' by the kinder chief. And I've already been told off for putting marshmallows and carrot sticks into the lunch box ('a choking hazard, sorry')!

Currently putting together a brochure for a Conquer Your Computer Cruise we'll offer to the Ms Megabyte audience - 9 days in the Pacific Islands with computer training on 3 of them - will be interesting to see if it takes off. In the States you can go on an eBay cruise for 5 days!

Am on Channel 10's new morning show again tomorrow - my regular spot is Wednesdays at 10:30. BUT this week, it's Thursday. What do you think of the new show? I'm actually maintaining the website for the show, so give me your comments on that too! (although we are restricted by the CMS, so the layout isn't too flash!)
