The Story of Yvonne Adele aka Ms Megabyte

By Caroline Siler, Keep Left PR
December 2002.

Yvonne Adele aka MS Megabyte is truly a multi-media personality, with a career spanning print, television and radio.

In August 2002, Yvonne joined TALK 1116 3AK and learnt the ropes in the station’s 6pm to 9pm timeslot which saw her tagged the ‘saviour of Melbourne’s AM airwaves.’ She made the move permanently to the 12-3pm timeslot in December as part of the fresh new line-up for 2003. (see 'Move to Days' press release).

Her show at 3AK is wide-ranging with regular segments addressing issues from child psychology, travel, Australian culture to health and wellbeing, food and wine appreciation and even modern etiquette – a segment she co-hosts with Ita Buttrose. She also profiles many visiting and local celebrities.

Radio’s newest ‘conversation queen’ also continues to entertain viewers of Channel Nine’s the Today Show, with her weekly technology segment now in its third year. On the Today Show, Yvonne transforms into computer wiz, MS Megabyte, whose mission it is to take the hard out of hardware, the science out of software and make everyday computer users techno-savvy!

Since the mid 90s, MS Megabyte has shared her everyday computing tips and hints and helped thousands of Australians integrate technology into their work and home lives. After working with Microsoft in Australia and the UK, Yvonne established her own consultancy business, advising high profile corporations and personal users on how to get the most from their technology investment. Her ability to make computing easy and, above all, entertaining has lead to a number of guest appearances on television and radio as well as public speaking engagements and the Ms Megabyte persona was born.

In 1998, Australian Women’s Weekly asked MS Megabyte to write a computer page, the first of its kind in the mass magazine market. She then graduated to a technology page for Woman’s Day, then Australia’s largest selling weekly magazine. Throughout 1998 and 1999, she appeared regularly on Kerri-Anne’s Midday Show and on Bert Newton’s Good Morning Australia, and was a special guest on Channel Ten’s The Panel. During 2000 MS Megabyte was also a core presenter on Channel Nine’s popular lifestyle technology program dot.com.tv.

This hectic media schedule hasn’t slowed Yvonne down on the personal front. In March 2001 she married long time partner Andrew, and in February 2002 gave birth to her second little girl, Charlotte. Yvonne also has a nine year old daughter Betty (mini Mega!), who is already following in her Mum’s footsteps with her own regular segment on the 3AK.
