Rising Star of Melbourne Talk Back Moves To Days

By Caroline Siler, Keep Left PR
13 January 2003

After five months at the helm of TALK 1116 3AK’s evening program, the station’s rising star – Yvonne Adele - has made the move to the 12 noon to 3pm timeslot. The permanent change, which takes effect today, is part of 3AK’s fresh new line up for 2003 that also sees comedian Tim Ferguson join the ranks for the afternoon drive program, directly following Yvonne.

As the only woman under 40 to host a commercial talk back radio program in Melbourne, Yvonne is already being hailed as a ‘breath of fresh air’ by listeners and media commentators alike. She intends to inject the same energy into her midday program that she did into her evening show, which saw her build a strong following in just five months.

Yvonne’s new program will be lifestyle focused with an emphasis on what’s happening around Melbourne. The show will feature an array of interesting guests and celebrities and address a diverse range of topics from child psychology, travel and Australian culture to health and wellbeing, wine appreciation and even modern etiquette – a segment she co-hosts with Ita Buttrose.

Jeff Chatfield, Managing Director of 3AK and owner of Data & Commerce Ltd said: “After joining 3AK Yvonne quickly built a rapport with listeners who enjoy her down to earth but mischievous nature, and ability to generate intelligent, entertaining talk back. I am confident she’ll attract an even greater following this year in the midday timeslot.”

Yvonne said she was thrilled with the move to days which would give her the opportunity to attract a younger audience as well as the chance to spend more time with her young family.

Yvonne’s career has spanned television, print, radio and web. She is also well known for her fortnightly segment on Channel Nine’s the Today Show, where she assumes the identity of technology expert MS Megabyte. In this guise, Yvonne has also appeared on The Panel, Good Morning Australia, The Midday Show and dot.com.tv. She prepared the first ever computer page for Australian Women’s Weekly and wrote a weekly column for Woman’s Day for over two years.

To hear Yvonne Adele, tune into TALK 1116 3AK between 12 noon and 3pm Monday to Friday or visit www.3ak.com.au to listen online.
