Launching this week, Ericsson's new mobile phone that can double as a digital camera:

T39 with inbuilt BlueTooth capability, which means it interacts cable-free with lots of things, like your computer. It also supports GPRS which gives you instant and high speed data access (for using web-based features from your phone) and is 'triple band' which means it can be used in USA and 120 other countries. Cost: RRP $715 off plan.

CommuniCam accessory - weighing just 25grams, plugs into the phone and acts as a digital camera - take a snap and send it via your phone, just like an SMS, although it can take around a minute to send a picture. RRP approx: $350 but unconfirmed, because it hasn't hit the stores yet.

NASCOMMS - use your phone number as a web address

An Australian company has come up with a way to use your phone number as a web address. They call it the 'numeric addressing system' and it works like this:

Internet users download a small addition to Internet Explorer for free from the Nascomms website. This gives them a new toolbar at the top of the screen where they can type a phone number to bring up a business' web site.

Businesses must subscribe to have their site listed as a phone number by NasComms. The cost is $55 incl GST per year. Businesses can then request Telstra to change their White Pages listing to include a superscript 'e' next to their name, which shows that the phone number is 'enabled' for web searching.

This type of system will stop a) visitors guessing a companies web address and finding the wrong company; b) cybersquatters [no-one can steal your phone number, but they can register your web address]; c) new internet users understand how phone numbers work.
